There are so many days when I feel like I can’t keep up in the way I really want to. This post really hit home.

Panicking

Hey!  You know what’s a full time job?

Reading other peoples’ blogs.

Man!  I try to keep up.  I really do.  The more people I follow, the more things pop up on my “Followed Sites” stream.  And I try to read them.  I try to be a good follower.  I am liberal (though sincere) with my likes.  I even try to comment once in awhile.  But after an hour or two of that, it dawns on me I haven’t written anything in my own blog.  So I click the “Write” button and start to dash something off.

But then I have to deal with Bloggers Guilt.  That’s the feeling of guilt you get when you’re writing in your own blog and realizing that dozens of posts by fellow bloggers are slowly scrolling down into oblivion in your “Followed Sites” stream.   There’s no keeping up.

So I read and like and…

  1. Oh no! An open letter! EEEKKK! But, on the subject of this, we all understand that it’s hard to keep up with the blogs and commenting, etc. I do my reading and commenting in five-minute spurts, like when I’m waiting somewhere or between classes. That’s what’s happening right now! Waiting for my next class to begin! Anyway, for me it’s easier to do this activity in little spare moments rather than reserve an hour in a day for it. Also, it helps not to think that you have to be constantly writing blog posts. I write one when I feel inspired. Sometimes it’s every day, but not usually!

    1. There are days when I am really doing my blog justice, but I take a few hours to do it. I love my followers so much and I hate to skim or miss a post. Some days, it’s just inevitable. I’m going to carry on and do my best. 🙂

  2. True …mine cuts off after about 40 posts so if for sine reason im busy i come back and I’ve missed stuff.

Then there are those that follow me that I don’t follow which I struggle to get my head around because I did follow more people than I do now but what was happening was my feet would fill up faster than I could read it . I followed one chap who reblogs lots of people which is cool but he was reblogging a couple of hundred people a day which meant he was the only person in my feed. I guess that’s probably what it’s been like if you follow me this week giving how much I’ve been posting. I’d never take offence if somebody didn’t read what I wrote though good god half the time I can’t be bothered to read my own stuff

  3. Linda, I responded throughout the day, first to my post followers then to those I follow. I us the reader but before I push like I always visit. So far not a problem, maybe when I get as popular as you it may be.😀😗❤

    1. I’m can’t be more popular than you are! Maybe I’m just doing it wrong. I have emails arrive when there are posts from my followers. Between that and the comments, I can have well over a hundred emails when I wake up. I think I need to change my settings and do everything via the notifications list. Even so, if a have a real life thing to do one day, it takes me three days to catch up. Thank goodness I’m retired! 🐉 ❤️ 🐉 ❤️ 🐉

  4. This is so true! Talk about reading my own thoughts. I have days like that when I’m swamped with events from my own life that I’m literally scrabbling to do my post and still try to catch up on posts I’ve missed.

  5. It comes with the territory, that once you reach a certain point you have to be more selective about who you visit. It’s a shame, but you’re only human. Also, there’s a natural ebb and flow to readers and their lives and your life, so sometimes someone exuberantly comments and then drops away, sometimes someone comments in trickles, sometimes in packets, and every so often, there’s someone who visits everything you write.

The trick is not to take any of it personally. Someone might have a bad day, and just skip all media, or just check all their subscriptions that day and hit delete. It happens.

      1. FOMO… fear of missing out. If someone misses my posts, I may not even know unless they’re super favorites. Much less mind. So why do I think others will mind if I miss one or two of their posts?

  6. I keep up with other posts on spare time. I also visit a cafe on daily basis for an hour or so which I’m investing that recently on WordPress. I do follow huge amount of posts so I might miss many sometimes. WordPress timeline misses some posts too – I reported that many times to the support team. For my close friends, I have a note on Evernote with direct links to their blogs so I can keep up with them regularly and miss nothing.

I always recommend that posts be short so it would be easy on us to read, like, and comment.
