I was going to write my usual “oh no, Winter is coming” post where I lament the colder weather, but I’m not going to do it.  I know, it’s a shocker, so I’ll just wait for the gasping to subside.  It was such a fabulous summer weather-wise that I have nothing to complain about.  That’s not entirely true, I do have things to complain about but certainly not about the weather.  Did I mention that my county has a frost advisory tonight?  Still not complaining.  Aren’t you proud of me?

I know, you are all wondering if the boat is as great as we thought it would be.  The answer is:  “How do I know?  We haven’t gotten it, yet!”  That’s right, we ordered it 2 1/2 months ago and they say it’s made, but no boat has arrived.  No dock either.  They have made one excuse after another.  Finally, I texted the dealer and told them we’d take delivery in the spring.  No response.  So I’m not sure what’s happening, but I do know the thing isn’t going in the water this year.  So I could complain about that, but I’m still riding high on the ‘it was a beautiful summer’ thing so I won’t say a word.  Even though I could.  Even though I’d be justified.  I still won’t.  Yet.

In other news for Cornville, I just saw the cast list for an upcoming movie a friend of mine is directing.  He’s been working on this concept for ten years and I’ve been helping him with some dialog along the way.  I was amazed to see that he’s credited me as a writer for the film.  That was a total shock!  I was happy to help where I could, but never expected to it to be so publicly acknowledged.  Big revelations in the mainepaperpusher household today!

The only other big news in Cornville is that I have ordered some new devices.  I watched the Apple Event a couple of days ago and of course, I wanted all sorts of Apple-icious stuff.  Last night I drank the Kool-Aid.  I drank a lot of it.  At the end of this month, I’ll be drowning in Apple-flavored goodness.  Ask me if I’m excited!  Just ask!

And for those of you Walter fans out there, here’s a pic I posted on Instagram a couple of days ago.   I have to keep Walter’s adoring public happy, after all!

  1. You my dear are an inspiration, so positive and patient. However if you had not had a photo of Walter I would have thought someone had hacked you blog. Just kidding.❤️❤️🐲❤️❤️🐉❤️❤️🐲❤️❤️🐉🌹

  2. No boat??? I was imagining the three of you touring around in the water. Walter being a Baywatch stud in his handsome vest and his ears blowing in the breeze. Esme has a crush on Walter, how could you resist that boy. Congratulations on the writing credit, its absolutely wonderful!! Im sad about winter coming, too. It truly was a spectacular summer. Love and big hugs to you, Bill and Walter. Esme sends kisses.

    1. Haha, Walter being a “Baywatch stud” made me laugh loud enough to make Walter perk up his ears which are not currently blowing in the wind. I think Walter has a crush on Esme, too. But, in his pushy Walter-way, he wants more pics. Love and hugs and Walter slurps!

  3. Nice to see you’re still talking to us mere mortals now you’ve been raised to the heady heights of being an accredited screen writer (congratulations that’s brilliant—he obviously really valued your contribution); and tech guru too, albeit a boatless one (how very frustrating). Is it because, for all these worthy achievements, you’re still in the shadow of a dog who, judging by that wonderful pic, is a clearly a canine supermodel?

    1. Mere mortals? Pffft Silly! This whole movie thing is just a fluke and the result of a friend being very gracious. Apparently I have an off camera part, too. I was just apprised of that little detail yesterday. This is what I get for telling him I’d “be happy to help in any way I can.” Seriously though, I’m really happy for him. And you are right, when it comes right down to it, it’s all about Walter.

    1. Oh my. Bar Harbor in September/October can be a nightmare with all of the tourists. Of course, you live in Manhattan so you are used to nightmarish throngs. And you are a tourist, so I guess you’ve got it covered! Haha! Have you been to Mt, Dessert Island before? It’s spectacular.

        1. You might want to take the Island Explorer into the park. This time of year, the parking is atrocious. You can wait forever for a space. I think a couple of the lots are even closed when the Explorer is in operation. They are doing everything they can to discourage cars in the park. You would never think that you’d have to wait 10-20 minutes for a parking space in a National Park in Maine, would you?

            1. Sorry for the duplicate! Yeah, but if you plan accordingly and read up on what to expect, you will see scenery that will take your breath away. If Bar Harbor gets to be too much for you, you can always take a drive to the other side of the island. You might even see someone famous. 🙂

        2. You might want to take the Island Explorer if you are going into the park. This time of year, the parking is atrocious anywhere on the island. You can wait forever for a space and I think a couple of the lots are even closed when the Explorer is in operation. They are doing everything they can to discourage cars in the park. You would never think that you’d have to wait 10-20 minutes for a parking space in a National Park in Maine, but that’s the reality these days. Are you taking Baxter with you? I’m sure you’ve done your homework, but it’s easy to think that such a place is a breeze to drive around and have pets on trails, but you really have to read up on the rules and regs. Even downtown Bar Harbor is nuts this time of year. The Schoodic peninsular, also part of the park, is a good place to go if you want to get off-island and away from the crowds. Gosh, I sound like a killjoy, but I don’t want you to have some nasty surprises once you get to the island. It’s a gorgeous place well worth visiting and I know you’ll love the scenery. There are great places to hike and walk and the photo-ops are unparalled.

    1. I’m not sure about being a movie writer. I just don’t think of myself as a writer of any sort, and that’s why it was so unexpected. Writers have big ideas and compelling concepts. I just share funny stories. And yes, it is always about you! haha!

        1. Thanks so much for saying so. Maybe I need to give myself just a teeny bit more credit, but it’s hard. The term ‘writer’ is exalted to me so it’s hard to think of myself that way. I really appreciate your thoughts. You’ve made my day! 🤗💕🤗💕🤗

  4. Wow, writing credits on a movie… congratulations! As for the boat… I would be calling the company every day until they showed up. It will be something to look forward to in the spring though, Speaking of seasons… this is NOT frost season, it can’t be! I dont want to see fall lead us into winter when the calendar is still saying it’s summer! I will keep my fingers crossed it was just a one day fluke and you can enjoy a little more warmth for a while. And of course, as always, Walter looks adoarable!

  5. Walter! I would love to hug him but I’m sure he would knock me down. I’m not too steady on my feet these days. 😦 Congrats on the acknowledgment you’re getting for helping with the dialog! That’s awesome! You know, all this time I figured you were out on the water enjoying the camp and the new boat. I would’ve emailed you but I didn’t want to disturb your adventures! Guess I should have disturbed you! Lol. Shame on them! They have robbed you of months of enjoyment. I hope you finally get the boat and the dock though without fighting too hard! It’s still hot and humid here so I’m envious of your frost advisory!!

    1. Walter can be a bit rambunctious! Nope, no boating adventures, but even if there were, you can ALWAYS email/message me! Oh, and you can have all the frost you want. Just send some of that heat on up here!

                P.s
Tell him to cheer up as Kurt will go to a dietician after hols as he had gained far too much weight. No matter I long I stay at the beach…he doesn’t run but spend his time eating seaweeds instead🙄

                1. Walter has always had a problem with chin ‘acne.’ It’s common in Danes and it’s just where the stiff chin hairs break off and irritate the skin. They usually grow out of it, but since his hasn’t at 3 yo, we took him to the dermatologist two hours away. She sent us home with two medications, a shampoo and prescription food to rule out skin allergies. Whew! We will see how he does by eating that. Poor Kurt, going to the dietician. Walter sends him sympathetic, slobbery kiss
