Those of you who know me know that I am not a fan of winter. Not one little bit. It’s cold and dark and slippery…especially here in Maine. Ok, I’m falling down the rabbit hole of winter misery and that’s not where I want to go. On the contrary…
It snowed last night and I’m not going to whine about it. It wasn’t our first snow…that happened in October….the week after we had temps in the 80’s, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Last night we got more than a dusting of the white stuff. Even so, I’m going to take the high road and not whinge on interminably. Yes, you read that right. I am not going to complain about the cold weather. I’ll just wait here quietly while you let that soak in. “Let the Ice Man Cometh” and all of that. That might not be the best reference to use since that play had a lot of racial and political aspects. Let the Abominable Snowman Cometh! Emphasis on the abominable part. Yeah, that’s better.
I bet you are wondering why I am filled with so much tolerance toward the cold months to come. It’s a fair question considering I’ve been known to fantasize about strangling snow-lovers with their very own scarves. I have a very good reason for reigning in my abhorrence of all things related to winter. We had the best summer ever. Sooo many days of temps in the 80’s and above. It was glorious!!!
Never let it be said that I have no sense of fairness. It might be tough to take, now that the glory days are over, but I have to give the weather gods their due.
Besides, the carpenters are starting to build the garage on Monday. I won’t have to walk in the snow to get to the car. No more slipping on ice in my own driveway!
The summer WAS really nice. But in the spirit of full disclosure, maybe I should have mentioned that whole garage thing right up front, huh? 😉

The garage will be pure bliss!! Now that is something to look forward to. It seems early for snow but we were dealt the same thing, too. I dont mind snow, but after January, I’d be more than happy to let spring begin. Does Walter like snow? Esme loves it! 🐾🐕😍💗 Hugs my friend!

I can picture Esme loving the snow. Walter is suspicious of it at first. He will walk around warily and keep to any spot that might be bare. Then in the spring the whole thing turns around and he wants to walk on the snow and not on the bare spots. He’s a nut! 💕💞💖💞💕 Hugs to you, too!!!

The late Fall sounds lovely, in a theoretical sense, with snow in Maine. I’ll send you pictures of palm trees. (of course, I’m camping this coming week with friends in Yosemite. I might be a lot less smug if the nights are as cold as forecast.)

I love the idea of snow but have a feeling that I would be completely overwhelmed trying to live in it daily! I’m San Diego born and bread which means I can’t drive in anything more than a sprinkle. It’s like bumper cars out here during an actual rainstorm. I’m happy that you are getting your garage and look forward to reading more about it. Happy Sunday!

Thanks for dropping by Sheri. I am sure that after a few storms you would be just fine. Snow is no big deal, but ice storms suck. Just remember to turn into the skid!

I am not a huge fan of cold, dark and rainy (we do get snow once in awhile in Seattle), but I do love your picture😊 It is beautiful! So glad you are getting some cover for that icy path!!💕

Yeah, scene is pretty… especially since I took it from inside the house. If I had to be outside to take it, the charm would rapidly diminish! 💕💕💕💕💕

I’m also not a huge fan of cold (Hugo doesn’t mind – he even prefers it than hot summer) but as the climate is changing so drastically I wish for a regular and more predictable weather. It’s almost the middle of November now and in Poland it’s around 10 degrees (and I mean Celcius not this weird system you guys have) 😀
But ask me in a week to see if I’m still riding the high horse 😉 – it’s supposed to be getting colder.

So…I see that it’s a bit colder there now. I just asked Alexa and she says it’s -4C in your much more sensible scale than ours. I’m laughing wondering if you are still trying to cling to that high horse. 😉

Apparently, I got one or two days more but today’s 3C doesn’t seem to be very encouraging

Sunny again today. If it makes you feel better I am stuck up a ladder wallpapering rather than outside enjoying the sun. Love you too!

It’s pretty and not too cold yet. I love the first snow, but I’m just like Lisa. After January, I want it to go away fast. I hope you won’t put too much stuff in your garage so there is still room for your car! 😀

I totally agree with you both! After EARLY January, I am ready for spring. I promise I won’t fill the garage up. I’m in “get rid of it” mode. Bill had better watch out! 😉
