I need some input, ideas, help.  Ok, let me stop you right there. I know you are going to say I’ve needed help for a long time. There, I said it, before you did. So thttewweeep. You’ll just have to imagine me sticking out my tongue and making that “sticking out your tongue” noise that is ever so rude.

Now, on to the issue at hand.

I’ve been talking to people about doing guest blogs. Then I thought about making it a regular feature. Here is how my thought process went:

It would be fun to do so that we would be able to meet some of our fellow bloggers more in-depth.

Then it occurred to me that it would be fun to do it on a weekly basis or more.

Ok, a lot of people do this, how can we make it different?

How about having guest blogs that are funny?

Yes!

But what would the rules be?

1. Must tell something about yourself and your blog.
2. Must do this in a way that elicits a smile.
3. Extra points for getting laughs, chuckles, and guffaws.
4. Points don’t matter but the laughs, chuckles, and guffaws do.
5. Must tell us where you are from and a short description of said place.

Are there any more rules you can think of?

I was thinking of naming it Guest in Jest followed by the name of the guest blogger.
For example” Guest in Jest mainepaperpusher

On what day(s) of the week should it fall?

As you can tell, this is just an idea roughly outlined, but if there is any interest in it at all, I’ll figure out a way to do it!

If you are interested in being a Guest in Jest blogger.  Leave me a comment here.  That way I’ll know if it’s feasible or not.

Any further ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks so much!

      1. Uuuum… I think Friday is a good day for it go out as everyone is pretty upbeat on Fridays – TGIF and all that. I like your title, so you could go with: Guest in Jest: Giggles Courtesy of [insert name here]
I think your content points were good- you could do an end of the month ‘funniest guest post was [so and so] ‘ by seeing who got the most likes (so obvs ask readers to DEFINITELY like and comment. Then the ‘winner’ has to say thank you by posting their favourite shirt, cheesy, corny joke for one last laugh. Just a few ideas! You could EVEN (assuming it takes off) at he end of let’s say 3 months if doing this, give an award of some sort or create a little “Hall of Fame’???

  1. I like it! But you probably knew that. I would look at your WP stats and see which is your most popular day and go with that one. That’s how I got endangered Thursdays going.

      1. Thank you 😁. I say go with Fridays then. People could get bust one lung reading your posts then come over to mine and bust the other one for Facebook Fridays 😂😂

  2. I think it would be great fun, if I could be allowed to join! And I bet writingforme1961 would play. And she’s funny. I’m more morbidly sarcastic and snarky. I love the idea of community building.

    1. Of course, you are “allowed” to join! Silly! Anyone who wants to join is greatly encouraged! Now that it looks like it is going to happen, invite anyone who wants to join. Are there any ideas you have for the post? By the way, I love your snarkish ways!

  3. Guest in Jest: how I love assonance! 😀

Can we be funny and the blog not so much? Or both should be funny? haha

Maybe another rule could be: the post must have a picture (taken by the writer themselves) besides the featured one. Images tend to attract the viewers.

You could establish the minimum of words as 700. Longer posts are also eye-catchers.

    1. Hmmm, I hadn’t thought about pics. I guess we’d have to have a common featured pic. I’ll have to work on that! I like the idea of a pic for the post itself, but I don’t want to put off anyone who isn’t into photography or is shy about their skills. I like though. Lets see what others think. Length is another thing to thin about. This is why ask these things. I need ideas! Thanks so much!

      1. Yeah, I guess you’re right about the photographic skills. I have none myself. haha And having a common featured pic sounds like a great idea 🙂

      1. Sorry…I am talking gibberish! I am exhausted, have pine sap in my hair and there is no chocolate in the house. Someone even ate the chocolate chips (yeah, it was me).

        1. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you are very funny. As for the pine sap, I see oily hair in your future. I think any oil will help. Now, if you happen to have spruce sap around, you can chew it like gum as the natives did. Don’t chew pine sap. That would be sad.

          1. My kids don’t think I am funny. They look at me like I am nuts! Wifey shakes her head, often! Granted, she is the most sarcastic person I know…But I think you would be a nice challenge for her! She enjoys my “Linda” stories!

            1. Trust me, you are funny. If you truly don’t think you are (you are!) then have Wifey help you write it! Yes, I think she and I would get along fabulously. I’m glad to hear that she likes the “Linda” stories. That makes my day! Of course, it’s night now, but you know what I mean. 😛

              1. We were in the bookstore and saw a stuffed dragon. She said, ” Hey…you should mail that to Linda and the geese and see if she gets it!” Like I said, she enjoys my Linda stories!

                1. Hahaha! I love that woman already. She should join WordPress and do a funny blog post! OR she could be your guest poster to post on the Guest in Jest…oh this is way too confusing. Just tell her to write stuff and we’ll put it somewhere somehow if she likes. 🙂

              2. If this Skunk does not take his smell elsewhere, not so sweet Roda is going to start flailing in the Japanese garden with the pitch fork! ( Now that might be funny!)

                  1. The Skunk family needs to go! I was kind and live trapped them from under the hay barn. The entire family was safe and sound…happily relocated! Next time, I won’t be so nice! Wifey won’t let me have a gun! She says s hormonal woman should never have a gun! 🙄

                    1. She might be right, but that never stopped me. Though, I’m glad she is keeping you from killing them. Obviously, you didn’t relocate them far enough away. Would you like some lessons from Bill? He’s pretty good in the critter relocation department!

                    2. I think she is more afraid of what might happen when I get grumpy and there is no chocolate! Honestly, I could never pull the trigger!

    1. Your website is called Great Indians. Start off by telling people about you. Then work on posts explaining why India is great. Food, culture, religion, architecture…the list is endless. Good luck with your new blog!

    1. Thanks so much! I think you had me do this one once before. I’m about five tags/awards behind and I’m thinking of doing Tag Tuesdays!

I hadn’t realized I was one of your first followers. I probably knew and forgot. The brain, she not working so good anymore. You’ll just have to imagine that being said with a heavy accent of some type. It’s alway safe to leave those types of things as non-specific as you can. Mostly, because I can’t do an accurate accent to save my soul!
